and approach
There are many reasons for hiring a professional interior designer, such as myself. Let go of the notion that designers are only available to those who have lots of money. And I provide so much more value than just a beautiful space in the end. I want you to enjoy the creative process, avoid costly mistakes and help create a space that you enjoy spending time in. If the end goal is to sell your home, I want to set you apart from any competition. I have worked with lots of realtors and homeowners, over the years, staging properties and helping them get top dollar.
Depending on the scope of your project, many services are included in my affordable rate. For some, there are so many different styles and materials to choose from and use it can be quite overwhelming when building, remodeling or even just redecorating. From a conceptual perspective, we will define the scope of your project, how the space needs to function and more specifically your style. The next step typically involves evaluating what should be re-purposed and what should be purged, developing a plan, and taking steps to execute that plan. I have experience collaborating with architects, contractors and vendors. My goal is to connect you with reliable professionals who consistently deliver the best craftsmanship. A well thought out and executed floor plan/design increases the value of ones home and just makes for a happier homeowner. Who isn’t their happiest in their own space surrounded by the things that they love?
My design philosophy is simple, you do not need tons of money to create a beautiful home that reflects your taste and personality and that makes you happy. With my knowledge of materials and resources, and with my experience budgeting time and money,

About
Hello! I'm Kathleen. It's not uncommon for a designer to say that they've been creating artistic masterpieces since childhood, as was the case for me. From crafting furniture for my Barbie's Dream House to decorating the house I grew up in, it made sense that I pursue some professional training. I also dreamt of becoming a mommy and someday having my own interior design business. In pursuit of my dreams, I received higher education at Rochester Institute of Technology, where I earned a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Interior Design. During college, I met the love of my life, and after graduating, we married.
From there, I gained extraordinary experience working for two interior design firms in Rochester, New York. My husband and I also started our family, and God blessed us with three beautiful babies!
With all of my kids in school full time, I created Kathleen Taylor Interior Design (KTID) in the spring of 2017. I offer residential interior design and staging. All of life's experiences including moving from upstate New York to Raleigh and now recently Carolina Beach, North Carolina, traveling with my husband to beautiful places such as Aruba, Hawaii, London, Costa Rica and raising my kids have all influenced me to be the designer I am today.
